The Business & IP Centre at Exeter and Barnstaple Libraries host a range of events and workshops to suit start-ups, entrepreneurs or businesses looking to learn new skills or research their industry.

Webinars run weekly on a variety of subjects and are a great way to get an overview of a new topic, or a refresher which can help you to look at your business plan in a new light. Whether you’re just starting out or an established business looking to grow, our webinars are useful, inspiring and informative.

An Employers Guide to Supporting Neurodiversity in the Workplace

Learn about the benefits of a diverse workforce and how to accommodate the needs of neurodiverse employees

Learn about what a neurodiverse workforce can look like, and what is a successful environment to work in, from the perspective of people who are neurodiverse themselves. Every business has barriers that can make some of these approaches challenging and practical steps and exercises will be introduced to assist with overcoming these.

To include:

• Employee recruitment and retention.

• How to provide the opportunity for people to shine and push their business forward.

• How a people-focussed approach provides optimal business performance.

• Some common neurodiverse traits at work

• Environment and equipment adjustments for neurodiverse workers

• From the horses’ mouths – what neurodiverse workers say they want from their managers.

About Anna Schlapp

Anna Schlapp B.A., AACC, ACC is a creativity and ADHD coach. Anna coaches many entrepreneurs and employees with ADHD and associated neurodiverse conditions. She is passionate about helping her multi-talented clients to overcome barriers, flourish and grow to achieve their potential. She has been running her successful coaching business based in Exeter for 7 years under the name Remarkable Difference ADHD Coaching.

About James Wenger

James is a successful entrepreneur and businessperson, having taken a start-up company from two people to a staff of around thirty prior to acquisition. James undertook a senior leadership position in the acquiring company, working on business growth and transformation with a strong focus on employee engagement and empowerment. The company was repeatedly ranked #1 in the prestigious Sunday Times Top 100 Companies to work for awards. After facilitating the transition to new ownership following a lengthy CMA investigation, He departed the business. James is a business angel investor, an academic studying neuroscience, active in networks focussed on neurodiversity and a martial artist with over 20 years teaching experience.

The session will be recorded for BIPC Devon’s archive. You are free to leave your cameras on or turn them off as you prefer. There will be a chance to ask questions during the session, which you can do via video/audio or by using the Zoom chat function.
