The Business & IP Centre at Exeter and Barnstaple Libraries host a range of events and workshops to suit start-ups, entrepreneurs or businesses looking to learn new skills or research their industry.

Due to Covid-19, many of our events are currently hosted online, via Zoom.

Webinars run weekly on a variety of subjects and are a great way to get an overview of a new topic, or a refresher which can help you to look at your business plan in a new light. Whether you’re just starting out or an established business looking to grow, our webinars are useful, inspiring and informative.

One-to-ones are useful for enquiring about how you can access business information and support, to discuss a problem or question you have in a specific area of your business, or to find out more about Intellectual Property. Find out more information on our 1-to-1s page.

Business Mentoring with James Court, SME Expert in Residence

An opportunity for Devon-based businesses to benefit from ongoing mentoring, via a weekly meeting with BIPC Devon’s SME Expert in Residence.

An opportunity for Devon-based businesses to work with a business mentor, over a 3-month period. Every week you’ll have a 30-minute virtual meeting with James Court, BIPC Devon’s SME Expert-in-Residence and NatWest’s Local Enterprise Manager.

Expert biography:

As businesses across Devon continue to restart, rebuild and recover, NatWest’s Local Enterprise Manager, James Court will be supporting entrepreneurs to move forward into 2021 and beyond.

In his role at NatWest, James works with many local organisations to champion the potential of businesses and support entrepreneurs as they develop and grow. This may be through one-to-one support or through networking and facilitating connections with his business network/community.

James will be running regular events and will also support new and developing businesses achieve their potential through NatWest’s Business Builder Programme. The digital tool is on hand to provide help with all aspects of getting new businesses off the ground and ready to scale with a wide range of online learning, workshops and events.

As we move deeper into 2021 and beyond, James will also provide specialist support to female entrepreneurs and those in sustainability focussed enterprise as part of NatWest’s commitment to supporting women in business and our commitment to meet the climate challenge.

James has over 21 years’ experience of working with SMEs from start-ups to corporate sized businesses. In 2020 he won the Exeter Living Award for Business Services. Creating the popular #NatWestBoost networking event, helping to support the thriving local business community across Exeter and beyond. He is a regular contributor for GROW Magazine Exeter, writing a monthly column and is passionate about championing entrepreneurship, helping people scale-up their ventures and achieve their potential.

Please note: BIPC Devon are only able to offer Expert 1-to-1 appointments to business based in Devon, UK. Once you have made your booking, we will contact you for further information about you and your business idea. When you’ve replied to this email, our expert will contact you with details of how to access the meeting.
