The Business & IP Centre at Exeter and Barnstaple Libraries host a range of events and workshops to suit start-ups, entrepreneurs or businesses looking to learn new skills or research their industry.
Due to Covid-19, many of our events are currently hosted online, via Zoom.
Webinars run weekly on a variety of subjects and are a great way to get an overview of a new topic, or a refresher which can help you to look at your business plan in a new light. Whether you’re just starting out or an established business looking to grow, our webinars are useful, inspiring and informative.
One-to-ones are useful for enquiring about how you can access business information and support, to discuss a problem or question you have in a specific area of your business, or to find out more about Intellectual Property. Find out more information on our 1-to-1s page.
Intellectual Property (IP) information 1-to-1s
December 17 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Intellectual Property (IP) consists of four main areas: copyright, trademarks, patents and registered designs. Knowing and understanding your IP rights can hlep you to ensure that you are safeguarding your creativity effectively, and reduce the chances of problems further down the line.
In this session, our BIPC Devon staff will help you identify the IP in your business, and consider options for protecting it. We can give you an overview of the IP system in the UK, information on how to apply for the different rights, and help with basic searches.
Please note: We are NOT able to provide legal advice. We can, however, provide information and signposting, to help you better understand how you can protect and use the IP in your business.
Rachel Oakes is a Chartered Librarian, with a background in business information in both academic and public libraries. She has also run her own small business.
Please note: BIPC Devon are only able to offer 1-to-1 appointments to Devon-based businesses. Once you have made your booking, we will contact you for further information about you and your business idea.
