Will Amphlett is the Commercial Director of R50 Marketing, an independent, family-run marketing and website design agency based in Newton Abbot. As part of his role at R50 Marketing, Will is focused on building new relationships, acquiring new clients and driving business development. To achieve this, he actively seeks opportunities to network with other businesses and expand the company’s reach across the South West and beyond.
Will discovered the BIPC Devon’s ‘Advanced Business Boost’ course through the Newton Abbot Chamber of Commerce, one of BIPC Devon’s partner organisations, and attended all of the core sessions delivered by expert James Court. His father and the CEO of R50 Marketing, Mark Amphlett, also hosted the Writing Effective Client Case Studies workshop.
What have we helped you and your business with through the course?
Gaining knowledge on how to build not only my business’ brand, but my own personal brand was a massive takeaway. I now have more insights on how to deal with finances, employees and the general day-to-day ‘behind the scenes’ running of a business. Not only how to do it, but different techniques. During the course it was interesting to not only hear from James, but the other people in the room taking part.

What have you gained by attending the workshops?
Valuable business knowledge that would usually take a long time or a lot of experience to learn or would cost a lot of money. As well as all the knowledge, I have built a network of great people who I intend to stay in contact with.
James Court was great, full of information and tips. 1.5 hours was a good length for this type of course, 6 weeks flew by but managed to fit a lot in. The library host in the room was always friendly and helpful. The course followed everything the description said, and more.

How have you expanded your operations and found new customers since the course?
After learning how to build my own ‘personal brand’ by James, I have leveraged this to meet new people and build potential business. I also have more knowledge on how to handle business finances and the slickest ways to do this.
