Nailing the Tale – A workshop on Public Speaking with Gideon Lawrence

May 14 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

An interactive workshop on how the skills intrinsic to storytelling translate to conversation and public speaking

Storytelling is an art as old as time, and anyone can learn it. It uses expression, body language, tone control and tempo to draw people into a narrative.

Importantly it does not matter what that narrative is!

The skills translate to public speaking, becoming a better conversationalist, sales pitches, and even to a certain extent phone manner.

Come with me, Gideon Lawrence of the Old Wyvern a storyteller and folklorist of over 20 years’ experience, to learn a selection of skills in an interactive workshop designed to build confidence and break down barriers to communication.

This lively and engaging 90 minute workshop will speak to the you in a friendly, accessible, no ‘fluff’ way. We will allow 30 minutes at the end of the talk for Questions. Gideon will provide visuals/slides to make the content engaging and accessible for multiple-learner types and those with specific learning needs.

The Brunel Room (1st floor of Work:Space, within the library) is accesible for wheelchairs and there are also disabled bathroom facilities.

There is paid for car parking within a 1 minute walk and the train station is approximately 10 minutes walk away.
