The Business & IP Centre at Exeter and Barnstaple Libraries host a range of events and workshops to suit start-ups, entrepreneurs or businesses looking to learn new skills or research their industry.
Webinars run weekly on a variety of subjects and are a great way to get an overview of a new topic, or a refresher which can help you to look at your business plan in a new light. Whether you’re just starting out or an established business looking to grow, our webinars are useful, inspiring and informative.
One-to-ones are useful for enquiring about how you can access business information and support, to discuss a problem or question you have in a specific area of your business, or to find out more about Intellectual Property. Find out more information on our 1-to-1s page.
A typical job interview is little more than a social call with some predictable choreography. 🕺 💃 A conference-room meeting, a pristine CV and the standard questions: Where do you want to be in five years? What do you consider your biggest failure? What are your strengths and weaknesses?
The candidate seems good, and the references check out. So, an offer is made, and fingers are crossed that everything works out. 🤞
Then, a month later, the new hire misses an important deadline or starts complaining about the work. Cue that sinking feeling: You start wondering if hiring this person was a mistake. ❔
Of course, there is a better way!
In this FREE one-hour workshop James White will teach you how to put in place the frameworks and processes to get the best people to join your company. You will learn how to use your mission and vision as a hook to attract the very best talent. 😮

About the Host
James White is the founder of The Small Business Academy, and helped over 120 businesses in the last 12 months alone. He works directly with a range of clients over several industries, helping them to build their sales structures, skills, and knowledge to grow and scale their companies.
Coming from a successful career as a Sales and Marketing Director for international computer networking firms, James delivered results and grew relationships which gave him a six-figure salary and multi-million-pound budget responsibility before the age of 30.
After a major life event and disillusionment of corporate life, James decided to embark on his own journey as a small business owner in 2005. He grew a subscription-based software business without any major capital investment. After building this business to an impressive scale of just under one million pounds of recurring revenue, he decided to focus on his passion of training and mentoring.
